The Ascent is designed to be the one rock solid bike that does it all. Take it out training and smash some Strava KOM records or get it out into the race peloton and lead the way up those mountains, it’ll give back every drop of muscle you can throw at it. Hit it with wind and weather from every angle and it’ll stay steady.
The frame strikes a refined balance of aerodynamics and weight – with an aero optimised head tube, down tube and an advanced frame that’s made from state-of-the-art Toray T1000, EPS moulded carbon. The frame tips the scales at a featherweight 870g in a size 56, allowing for a build weight that can break the UCI 6.8kg limit. Cake, had and eaten.
It may be a lightweight frame, but that doesn't mean we forget about including a little aero goodness where we can. Truncated aerofoil tube profiles are implemented on the head tube and down tube, and deliver aero advantage without the full depth of an aerofoil shape. While shallower tube profiles reduce its surface area from the sides, meaning the Ascent displays excellent manners in cross winds.
The frame applies an EPS carbon manufacturing process and a laser-cut, hand laid carbon layup that allows us to tune frame thickness with amazing accuracy. That means we can reliably adjust carbon wall thickness to be thicker in areas that need stiffness and thinner in areas that add to compliance and weight saving. We also apply the BB86 bottom bracket standard to save weight and increase pedalling stiffness.
An all-round fast choice. These wheels perform well going up and in all conditions. They feature a toroidal shape – which creates an efficient and versatile wheel that has similarly low drag on the leading and trailing side, as well as better crosswind stability, compared to a conventional V-Shaped deep section rim.
The CRC40 use a basalt braking surface, designed to handle incredibly high temperatures while maintaining optimal braking performance and safety. A wide, 27.25mm outer rim width means they pair well with wider tyres, up to 28mm, but optimal at 25mm.
